Our Story

Twisted Herd Mercantile was born from a simple belief that you shouldn't have to leave your small town to find clothing, gifts, accessories, and services that help you feel confident, stylish, and uniquely yourself.

Founded in 2021 in Chatham, Virginia, Twisted Herd began as a small boutique with western roots and a passion for serving our local community. What started as a dream quickly grew into something much bigger—a place where fashion, friendship, and small-town values come together.

As we continued to grow, we were excited to welcome MK Salon into the Twisted Herd family, bringing beauty and personal care alongside the boutique experience. The addition of MK Salon allowed us to create a destination where customers can shop, refresh, and enjoy a complete Southern lifestyle experience all in one place.

Today, Twisted Herd has evolved into a modern Southern lifestyle brand inspired by the people who make rural communities special. We're proud to offer carefully curated apparel, accessories, gifts, handcrafted goods, and salon services that reflect the charm, strength, and authenticity of Southern living.

Our collections blend timeless style with everyday comfort, featuring pieces for women and men who appreciate quality, individuality, and a life rooted in tradition. Alongside our favorite brands, we're honored to showcase products created by talented artisans and makers from our own community, helping support local creativity and small businesses.

As a family-owned business, we understand the importance of hard work, faith, and community. Whether you're shopping online, visiting the boutique, or stopping by MK Salon, our goal is to create a welcoming experience where every customer feels valued and inspired.

Thank you for being part of our story. We're grateful for the opportunity to serve you and look forward to helping you find pieces you'll love for years to come.

Welcome to Twisted Herd Mercantile—where Southern style, beauty, and small-town heart come together.

Meet The Founder!

Hi, I'm Heather Bray.

At my core, I'm a woman of faith, a wife, a mother, an educator, a veteran, and an entrepreneur. While many know me as the owner of Twisted Herd Mercantile, my greatest passion has always been serving others, building meaningful connections, and creating a life centered around family, community, and hard work.

I proudly served in the United States Air Force, and my husband is a veteran of the United States Army. Our military backgrounds instilled in us the values of service, dedication, resilience, and perseverance—qualities that continue to guide us in both our personal and professional lives.

Today, I am a middle school art teacher, where I have the privilege of encouraging creativity and helping students discover their unique talents. Teaching allows me to make a difference in the lives of young people while sharing my passion for art and self-expression.

My husband and I are also proud parents to twins—a son and a daughter—who keep us busy and remind us daily of what matters most. Our family life revolves around agriculture, athletics, and supporting our children's passions. We own and operate a registered Texas Longhorn cattle farm and raise Boer cross show goats, giving us a deep appreciation for the agricultural lifestyle and the values it teaches.

You'll often find us at the ballfield cheering on our son as a dedicated baseball mom and dad, or at livestock shows and FFA events supporting our daughter as she pursues her passion for agriculture and the show world. These experiences have strengthened our love for rural life, hard work, and the incredible communities that surround youth agriculture and sports.

Every chapter of my journey—from military service and teaching to ranching, motherhood, and entrepreneurship—has shaped who I am today. I believe some of life's greatest blessings are found in faith, family, genuine relationships, and serving others.

Thank you for being here and for supporting this journey. I'm grateful for every customer, every conversation, and every opportunity to share a little piece of our family's story with you.
